ABOUT THE TOUR
TRIP RATING: Easy
TRIP LENGTH: 12Days /11Nights
ADVENTURE SEASON: December
Attend the annual Tshechu festival of Trongsa held inside the courtyard of ancient Dzong of Trongsa. The commanding dzong of Trongsa once used to be the most famous and central hub for administration especially during the time of first and second King, serving it as the seat of winter residence for the monarchy. The annual festival calls in all the people from the district and some from outside to attend the grandeurs of celebration dressed in their finest dresses. The heavenly sounds of the drums and trumpets echoes the whole valley as the monks perform their dramatic moves following the tunes of the music subduing all evil spirits and obstacles, blessing the spectators with good fortunes and longevity. The 3 day festival of Trongsa is usually held in December, ends with unfurling of huge Thongdroel(giant tapestry) on the last day. It is less crowded, so we get undisturbed closer view of the performances and activities unlike busy season travel. It is quite a cool and unique experience to get dressed in a local style and be as locals witnessing an annual event of the district in an ancient fortress. Trongsa festival is one of the most picturesque festivals with performances of some of the best mask dances and cultural programs.
